Prepping for summer travel

Though most of our funds are earmarked for home improvement this year, we are able to take a few short trips this summer.

The first is to the beach, which you’ve read about (and read about and read about) and seen lost footage from — I’d apologize, but it will probably continue. Nothing gets me like the surf and the sand.

This trip will just be my sister and I taking a long weekend to visit Mom over her two-week stay. Travel requirements for this are pretty minimal. I need a weekend’s worth of swimsuits and clothes (including sweat/lounge pants), books — and I swear this time I really will run on the beach for the first time since 1995, so running clothes.

Shopping list:

  • Maxi dress – I have my eye on this!
  • Sandals – I want these so badly, but sadly they are out of my budget. (Want them so much I pinned them twice – ha!)

Andy and I are planning to head to Erie, Pa. for a long weekend, too. On our agenda is fishing, taking in beautiful Presque Isle State Park, a few pubs and restaurants and the BrewErie.

This means mostly casual wear, like comfy roll-up shorts and a graphic tee, a fun bathing suit for the “beach” and something easy for sightseeing and eating.

Packing list:

  • clam diggers
  • bikini
  • Lifeproof case for instagramming on water

The next trip is to Baltimore in August. We’re meeting friends for an O’s game, but heading down earlier in the day to see the sights. As of yet, this is a day trip, so I need to pack light, yet be prepared.

Remember when we met Barry Bonds?

Packing list:

  • Cross-body bag
  • Camera

Shopping list:

I’ve been looking for an appropriate blogger conference to attend, and I finally bit the bullet and signed up for the Healthy Living Summit in Boston in mid-August. I’m excited to see Boston a bit (it’ll be my first time there), meet a ton of new blogger friends and get inspired. A quick search tells me Boston is warmest in August with a mean temperature of 72. Say what?

From what I’ve read so far, the dress is pretty casual for these events, as in, some people wear yoga pants. So, for me that means my uniform:

  • “Sexy” boyfriend jeans (most comfortable ever)
  • Tank
  • Blazer
  • Accessories (I buy mine almost exclusively from KIST Boutique)

Where are you traveling this summer? Are you buying anything special for the occasion?

I am an avid over packer! Seriously, I feel like they created the bag weight limits just for me.

I love those sunnies! I need to find the cheaper knock-offs though…

  3. Haha! I try really hard to be low maintenance, but I always end up with too much – yet missing some vital item, like sweatpants or socks.

  4. Yeah, wish I could too. Then again, $45 isn’t totally unreasonable — if I could try them on.
