Music to Drink Beer To: #HBGBeerWeek Live Music Preview

It’s that time of year again. The Senators are back on the field at FNB Park, new summertime anthem jams are being released weekly, my allergies are showing no mercy, and Harrisburg Beer Week is back for year three.

From April 21-29, the entire greater Harrisburg area turns into a festival celebrating craft beer with multiple events daily to raise awareness and funds for one of our area’s most invaluable resources, Harrisburg River Rescue and Emergency Services.

There are more than 200 events to explore, including some great live music to enjoy during Harrisburg Beer Week.

On April 21, the invitation-only Official Harrisburg Beer Week VIP Kick-Off Party will be filled with HBW sponsors and will feature live music from The Jellybricks. So, if you can’t find a way to sneak in or know a guy that knows a guy, I recommend easing into the week with a beer sampling, art, and music event that coincides with 3rd in The Burg at City House Bed and Breakfast. This event will feature samples from Hemauer Brewing and the musical sounds of John Kelly.

If you’re looking to crank it up a bit more opening night, head over to The Vineyard & Brewery at Hershey for a night filled with live Motown music on the deck and enjoy the release of the collaboration beer Fruit Punch DIPA.

On opening night, you’ll find me at The Abbey Bar to check out the Boston-based reggae-rock band, Spiritual Rez hitting the stage with Mark Diomede band. Tickets are $10 in advance/$12 day of show.

On April 22, head over to Ted’s Bar and Grill (Allentown Blvd) where you can enter for your chance to win a pair of tickets to see Guns N’ Roses at Hersheypark Stadium this August! Great Lakes Brewing will be on hand with samplings, other giveaways, and breaking out their newest year-round brew: Turntable Pils.

If you didn’t get lucky and win the tickets and still need your rock n’ roll fix, head over to The Abbey Bar for The Clarks! Hailing from Pittsburgh, PA The Clarks have been playing across the country since 1986.

Battle of the Homebrewers on April 23 at the Broad Street Market will feature live music from Jason Carst to go along with one of the most popular events of the week. Make sure you get your tickets ahead of time for plenty of sample and enjoy live tunes!

On April 26, another battle ensues: Battle of the Brewers 6 at Grain + Verse Bottlehouse. It’s the defending champ Ever Grain Brewing Co vs. Molly Pitcher Brewing Co. These events have quickly become an area favorite and this time will feature one of my favorite local acts, Shawan & The Wonton from 7-9 p.m.

Meet me portside on April 28 for the Free Will Brewing Co. Sunset Brews Cruise on the Pride of the Susquehanna River Boat featuring four hours of Yacht Rock (one of my guilty pleasures) for smooth vibes and a beautiful sunset cruise. Space is limited so buy your tickets now!

April 28 Kilmaine Saints play Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center with their high-energy Celtic rock combined with a special Firkin Night featuring Wyndridge Farms. I’m just a touch Irish myself, and I will be there raising a pint and dancing along!

On April 29, roll over to River City Blues for Nate Myers & The Aces featuring Jeff Fetterman Blues Band downstairs while Starr Hill Brewery will be on hand to release their newest offering IPA Hop Buzz! Or, wrap up HBW with Andy Mowatt’s Steely Jam at HMAC and enjoy 2 barrel-aged beers from Flying Fish Brewing Co.

While not directly related to an official HBW event, Ryan Adams will be playing Whitaker Center for The Arts on April 29! Get tickets while you can because this show will sell out! A legend in singer/songwriter right here in Harrisburg for one of the biggest weeks of the year!

Harrisburg Beer Week offers up some great live music events, and I can’t wait for what has quickly become one of the best weeks to spend time in Harrisburg and enjoy great beer, meet new people and of course, experience live, local music!

What Harrisburg Beer Week events are you most looking forward to?
