Micah’s 2018 New Year’s Resolutions
Everyone thought 2016 was a dumpster fire until 2017 came along with the classic “hold my beer” move. 2018, can we catch a break? Or, at least our breath?
I looked back at my resolutions from last year I kept almost all of them. While I didn’t travel to Europe as I had planned I did go to more festivals and spent a lot more time strumming on the guitar. 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.
Yup. I need to stay home more. I have already started working on this resolution ever since my new cat, Allan, came into my life. I’m not going to stop going to shows (August Burns Red is this weekend and, we just scored tickets to Kesha and Macklemore in Hershey at Hersheypark Stadium July, 21st) but, I find myself longing for my sweatpants and couch more nowadays. My bank account will certainly thank me.
Maybe it’s the holiday season that has me thinking about it, but I do not spend enough time helping charities and non-profits in Harrisburg. That is going to change. I recently signed myself up at the Central PA Food Bank to volunteer and look forward to working with other organizations through the year. During the warmer months, I like to volunteer with the state parks and do trail clean up. It’s a great way to get out in the woods and help preserve our lands.
I recently renewed my lease on my midtown loft. I love the place and Harrisburg has been great to me, but I will not be renewing it again. Tying in with the above mentioned staying home more resolution in an effort to save some cash, it is because I plan on moving.
There are no definite plans and I guess you could say this is a goal more so than a resolution but next fall I will be on the West Coast (cue Sara cussing). There are a lot of opportunities in the Pacific Northwest for Environmental Health and Safety — that’s my day job — and I’m going to have to move out of Harrisburg to reach some of my long-term career goals.
2017, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
