In like a lion, out like a lamb – that's March. Hints of spring yet a chance of a blizzard in our future … and St. Patrick's Day, one of the few days post-college where drinking during the day is not only acceptable, but encouraged. Add to that March Madness (who's got a bracket for me?), spring break and daylight savings time, and March is one action-packed, event-filled month.
Especially at Appalachian Brewing Company. Rock 'n roll, Celtic musicians, national acts and more comprise the March schedule at the brewery (a full schedule follows after the jump). Tickets are available here.
It seems the perfect time to win a free $25 gift card to Appalachian Brewing Company. (Note: gift card good for food/drink only; not applicable for ticket fees or cover charges.)
Simply leave a comment below and tell me what your favorite ABC brew is.
A winner will be selected at random at the end of the week.
As usual, you can ReTweet this giveaway and leave a second comment saying you've done so for an additional entry.
This Friday, run – do not walk – to HMAC for The Brothers' Bash: A Night of Troegs Beer and Troegs Music. This can't-miss event features Pale Ale, Mad Elf and Dreamweaver Wheat on tap, plus a firkin of Hopback Amber Ale on the bar.
All music provided by bands featuring Troegs employees – Eli Charleston, Colebrook Road, Up Pops the Devil — plus Starsan, the all-star supergroup built for a Battle of the Bands beer festival held at Stoudt's the last two years, features 10 Troegs employees. Starsan won Stoudt's Battle of the Bands both years!
Doors at 7 p.m.; Music at 8 p.m. $5 cover.
Also: guest bartenders, Troegs trivia and free glassware to the first 50 people to purchase a pint.
Yikes, sorry for the short notice, people. I am joining several other local media personalities this Tuesday, Feb. 24 at ABC Camp Hill for “Yappy Hour.” We did the same event last year, raising more than $1,700 to help benefit Central Pennsylvania Animal Alliance on National Spay Day.
Jen Shade of 105.7 The X, and Diane Grey of MIX 106.7, will stir things up from from 5 to 6 p.m.; Bob Hauer, WHP 580 radio, from 6 to 7 p.m. I’ll be pouring drinks from 7-8 p.m. All of the tips collected by guest bartenders will go to the CPAA.
You’re likely familiar with all of ABC’s fine brews, most which will be just $3 during the event, and ABC also will feature three special drinks in honor of the event: the Greyhound, the Kitty Cat and the Dog Biscuit. Read more after the jump.
Since Starbucks will be closed anyway, join me on Tuesday, Feb. 26 from 5-8 p.m. at ABC Camp Hill when I guest-bartend to help support the Central PA Animal Alliance (CPAA).
I – along with other local media personalities – will host an hour behind the bar for tips to help fund CPAA’s spay/neuter programs. I’ll star as a co-mixologist from 7-8 p.m.
Erin Cruise of local band Cruise Control will perform, plus 50/50 raffle drawings will held on the hour from 6-8 p.m.
Get there early – between 5 and 7 p.m., appetizers are 25 percent off, and ABC drafts are just $3. Puppy Poppers – an ABC original appetizer – will be a featured special
for the night for just $7, of which 30 percent will be donated to CPAA.
