Miraculously, I had a half day today, so I thought I’d use it to get my last errands run before the holiday. I picked up a package at the post office, replaced the front headlight on my car, donated to Goodwill, hit the liquor store and stopped at Giant. Traffic was a bear, particularly in this weather, but I survived.
I followed this up with drinks with a favorite old friend at the Madre and won $10 at The Maennerchor. Ha, I’m home now – but I’m venturing out later to see friends who are home for the holiday.
Tomorrow is a busy day. Pedis with mi hermana at Lola’s, followed by a sushi lunch. Then, my oldest friend is stopping over for snacks, vino and gift exchange. I plan to make a fun new salad and cherry tomato toasts.
The night rounds out with dancing at Max’s with more friends, hosted by DJ Scottie.
I love Christmas music … too much. I’ve been listening since the day after Thanksgiving. I like to put a bunch of CDs into a section of my 50-disc CD changer and hit shuffle.
While I enjoy the classics (Frank and Bing really hit the spirit on the head), I admit I’m a huge fan of the pop hits. The past two years, I’ve purchased the double Christmas album offered by Bath & Body Works (and benefiting Make-A-Wish). The CDs feature both new and old, and are a great addition to your holiday repertoire (and are only $5 now!).
Here’s my list. Do forgive me.

It will soon be time for my annual Year in Review for my Patriot-News column, Out with Sara, and this year, I’m interested in hearing from readers about what you think was best in 2006.
Whether the blossom of bars that cropped up on both sides of the river, the addition of Giant Super Food Store, a fun art exhibit you caught – or anything in-between, tell me about it! A new coffeeshop or movie theater, the discovery of something old that’s now new to you, a new favorite hangout – tell me what was tops for you this year.

We’re having a cookie swap at work tomorrow, so I’m off to bake tonight (and hopefully post lots of entries to make up for the bad blogging I’ve been doing lately).
I’m responsible for four dozen cookies – and we each signed up for a different specialty – so that we swap out a certain number to each participant and get to take home a variety of holiday cookies, with a fraction of the work!
I’m making cranberry, orange and dark chocolate chip cookies, from a recipe I found on slashfood.com.
I’m off to zest an orange … wish me luck!
