Tomorrow, Mississippi singer/songwriter Charlie Mars will play the Farmers Market in Hershey (well, maybe — more likely inside the Cocoa Beanery). Most nights, Mars is playing sold out show in Philadelphia, New York City or Los Angeles, but thanks to a scheduling opportunity, you can catch him for FREE this Thursday at the Farmers Market in Hershey, on the grounds of the Cocoa Beanery.

You may have heard Mars before, as he did the soundtrack to Showtime’s Weeds, dates Mary Louise Parker and recently appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Who are you?

My name is Charlie Mars. Most people tell their name when you ask them who they are. Other than that. I write songs. I’m from Mississippi. I like to listen to Frank Sinatra. My dad is a pilot. I don’t know who I am, and after a very long road … I’m OK with that.

Why should we know you?

Because I’ll entertain you all night long. Come see me and I’ll prove it.

What inspires you to create music?

Is this your first time to Hershey? What are you looking forward to during your stay?

I”m going to go tour the Hershey candy deal. I would like to see some Amish people. Mostly I’m looking forward to playing for some of the folks who bought my record when I was in town with the Tedeschi/Trucks Band … and anybody else who wants to listen.

What’s next for you?

I’m doing 25 shows this month and then after that I’m gonna make a solo acoustic live record of stories and songs. Then I dunno what. I never have.

Catch Charlie Mars from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Farmers Market in Hershey. Free, BYOB.
